today
a hawk flew into the oak tree
on the tangent road to the knot
and the road down out of the mountains;
it stayed among the branches, large,
a bird; a bird that had flown all the way

it stayed in the middlemost

i took the knot
which was the tiger’s right eye
the left eye was also black on wire
there was nothing to do but wait (inside)
until the one eye turned to moon
and the other to another moon
which was the knob of a closed door
both spheres of light — one on a horizon line — that division of sea
