a bird is thought

dense – it stays and

rests on the thin branch

for a considered pause

or touches down for

quick association

on the crown of street

and streets and sounds

the slender thread

is still present

glinting in sunlight

in periphery

across the retina

a thread stretched

across three steps

lit by sunlight

at column base

glint

of speed shoulders wind

former house

today

a hawk flew into the oak tree

on the tangent road to the knot

and the road down out of the mountains;

it stayed among the branches, large,

a bird; a bird that had flown all the way

from Spain

it stayed in the middlemost

of the five panes of glass

against the grey

matter

the oak tree taught me   how to meditate

the sky showed me the knot

knot contained and was and is house

suspended on road      as bead

on thread      threaded

pierced            it stays

remains   was left

persists;          the oak tree   with the doe

eye

at the edge

of the ravine

the doe eye is neither blank nor vacant

stare

it is

among

the branches of the tree
